A Fire engine toddler bed makes a wonderful bed for little boys. Some people prefer an airplane or a train toddler bed but I think the red fire engine is the cutest. Fire trucks have long been a firm favorite with kids who often see firemen as real heroes and decide they want to be one when they grow up. Most boys will have more than one engine in their collection and will often follow a television series.
Fire Engine Toddler Bed Choices
There are a variety of models on the market with the two most popular being the Step2 fire engine and the kidkraft 76021 fire truck toddler cot.
The step2 model is made from durable plastic with rounded edges and is very easy to put together. It is a firm favorite with parents as evidenced by the high star ratings it achieved on various websites. It looks like a real fire truck as opposed to a bed even sitting on four black wheels. Kids love this model as it has a steering wheel, radio and comes with a night light in the form of the siren. Parents liked the fact that the light comes with an auto shut off. Your child can add a touch of their own personality too using the supplied stickers to add their personal touch to their fire engine toddler bed.
If you do not like plastic beds, you may prefer the kidkraft model which is also less expensive. This one is made from MDF and there is a whole range of co-coordinating furniture if you want to turn the bedroom into a mini fire station. The bed itself has toddler bed rails in the form of ladders which helps to add to the fire engine look.
Neither of the above models are cheap – the kidkraft retails for about $130 but you can find it cheaper if you shop around while the Step2 is almost $150 more expensive. You can also buy fire engine motif bedding, lampshades and other accessories if you wish.
If you only buy wooden furniture i.e. you don’t like mdf or plastic, you could have a look at the Just Kids Stuff fire truck bed which is made from Birch. Although it is well made using good quality materials, in my opinion the designers lacked inspiration as the overall effect is more that of a wooden box than a fire truck. If you have lots of kids and want a bed that will last, you may want to consider this option but to be honest, I think your kids would prefer one of the two options outlined above. After all you are buying this novelty bed for their benefit and not your budget!
